Thirteen competitors entered the annual St. Patrick’s Day Irish Soda Bread Contest sponsored by Phoenix Family Chiropractic in Malverne.
Ann Marie Konzet won first place for her bread. Anne Marie O’Brien won second place, and Louann Franzwa took third place. Each winner was awarded prizes that included a gift certificate to Connolly Station Irish Pub and Restaurant.
The judges this year were Mayor Keith Corbett, Jerry Hughes of Connolly Station, and Dr. Pennie Schwartz. Dr. Evelyn Heredia, owner of Phoenix Family Chiropractic, has continued the growing Irish Soda Bread Contest that was started over 20 years ago by Schwartz.
