Locust Valley Central School District passes budget for 2025-26 academic year

Newcomer Lindsay Fox wins election; incumbent Krystina Tomlinson is reelected

Voters in the Locust Valley Central School District approved the proposed $98.2 million budget for the 2025-26 academic year on Tuesday, supporting a 1.9 percent spending increase over the current year. The budget passed with 731 votes in favor and 530 against.

The budget keeps the tax levy increase within the state-mandated cap at 2.36 percent, below the tax cap of 2.7 percent. Approximately 91 percent of spending will be funded through tax revenue, with an additional $5.6 million coming from state aid.

Krystina Tomlinson was reelected to the Board of Education with 894 votes. Joining her will be newcomer Lindsay Fox, who won her seat with 883 votes.

In addition to the budget (Proposition Number 1), voters also passed a capital reserve withdrawal (Proposition Number 2) for for capital projects such as a renovated cafeteria at the middle school-high school complex and a new multi-sport artificial-turf field at Bayville Intermediate School, with 823 votes for and 417 votes against.

Finally, the district passed the Locust Valley Library's Tax Levy as well, with 424 votes in favor and 177 votes opposed.
