Man arrested for grand larceny in West Hempstead

Nassau County police reported the arrest of a man for a grand larceny that occurred on Feb. 28 in West Hempstead.

According to police, a male victim called 911 to report that the driver’s side window of his 2014 Toyota Camry was shattered with an object. The victims’ wallet containing credit cards, a New York State license and an unknown amount of money was removed. The victims’ credit card had an unauthorized purchase on March 1 at a 7-Eleven, at 136 Hempstead Tpke., in West Hempstead.

A short time later, an unauthorized purchase was made at Bolla Market/Shell Gas Station, at 101 Hempstead Tpke. A thorough investigation was conducted and Fayez Algammaz, of Brentwood, was arrested without incident on last Saturday, at 11 a.m. in West Hempstead.

During the investigation, it was determined Algammaz, 31, was responsible for the following incidents on Hempstead Turnpike:

-2004 Toyota Camry and a 2005 Scion passengers side window’s shattered and no loss reported.

-2020 Jeep shattered front and rear passenger windows, loss-headphones.

-2017 Honda Accord shattered rear passenger side window, loss-bottle of cologne.

-Honda CRV shattered passenger side window, loss-two coats.

Algammaz was charged with three counts of grand Larceny in the fourth degree; two counts of criminal possession of stolen property fourth degree; criminal mischief in the third degree; two counts of identity theft in the second degree; identity theft in the third degree; and three counts of petit larceny.

He was arraigned last Sunday in Mineola.
