'Noise'
Composer-lyricist-playwright Cesar Alvarez explores music and its effect on society in a workshop staging of his new musical “Noise.” Alvarez’s workshop production, featuring a cast of 13, is this year’s Larson Legacy Concert. Alvarez’s performance of what he calls his “absurd little musical” is presented at Adelphi as part of the concert series honoring alum and “Rent” creator Jonathan Larson who died in 1996 on the morning of the first off-Broadway performance of “Rent.” Alvarez, a recipient of the American Theatre Wing’s 2016 Jonathan Larson Grant, is recognized for his creative contributions to musical theater.
Sunday, Feb. 19, 3 p.m. $25. Adelphi University Performing Arts Center, 1 South Ave., Garden City. (516) 877-4000 or boxoffice@adelphi.edu.
