Police search for graffiti tagger

School Superintendent James Scannell said the district “is actively supporting and cooperating with a community initiative in trying to help identify the person or persons responsible for the graffiti.”

When Sani2 first launched the Graffiti Unit, Roberts said, there were a number of people leaving tags around Baldwin, but now, apparently, there is only one person responsible for most of them. Roberts added that local paint stores and residents have donated paint in recent months to help cover up the graffiti, but the effort is still costing taxpayers money.

Roberts, who has lived in Baldwin for about 50 years and said he is simply trying to keep his community clean, described the graffiti as “a big quality-of-life issue.”

“This individual sounds like he’s getting more and more brazen and doing it with more and more frequency,” Krumpter said. “We are working on it, and we’ll continue to do so.”

Crime Stoppers is asking anyone who can identify the person responsible, or who has information about the incidents, to call (800) 244-TIPS.
