Rocks head to Barclays Center

East Rockaway to play prior to L.I. Nets on Jan. 30

East Rockaway's boys' basketball team will take on Wheatley in a Nassau Conference ABC game at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Monday, Jan. 30th at 2:30 p.m.

Later that same evening, the Long Island Nets (NBA D-League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets) will take on the Greensboro Swarm at 7:30 p.m.

"Our players getting the opportunity to play at an NBA venue is beyond our wildest thoughts," Rocks head coach Joe Lores said. "The thrill for me is that this is all the workings of an alumnus of East Rockaway High School and a former player of mine on our 2012 Long Island Championship Team, Justin Jonas. Justin works for the Brooklyn Nets organization and after a short conversation has worked hard to bring this dream for the kids to life.

"It makes me proud, not just for our kids to have such an opportunity but to see a young man like Justin work hard to be in a position to give back to community and not forget where he came from. This is why East Rockaway is such a special place," Lores added.
