The Baldwin Fire Department held a March 8 funeral ceremony for Michael Vail, a 2nd lieutenant and former captain with Hose Company One. Vail died on March 1 after 18 years with the Baldwin F.D.
F.D. officials lined Grand Avenue for the ceremony, which included a procession of fire vehicles under a massive American flag.
Vail joined Hose Comapny One in 1991. He served as 2nd Lieutenant in 1995, 1st Lieutenant in 1996 and 1997, and Captain in 1998. He was again elected 2nd Lieutenant once again this year.
