Judy Martin, Baldwin resident and an Emmy Award-winning journalist with News 12 Long Island, will be the keynote speaker at the 19th Annual Caregivers Luncheon for the Long Island Chapter of the New York State Association of Health Care Providers.

"We are confident everyone will respond to guest speaker Judy Martin for she is not only an experienced journalist and inspirational businesswoman, but also a hospice volunteer who appreciates — from firsthand experience — the importance of caregivers," said Chapter President Taryn Birkmire.

Martin has covered the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, Hurricane Andrew and the 1989 Avianca plane crash. In addition to her work at News 12, she is a regular contributor to NPR News, The World, BBC Radio 3, The World Vision Report and The Marketplace Morning Report, where she spent nearly four years in the New York City bureau. She is also a certified hospice volunteer.

At the Caregivers Awards Luncheon, which will be held Nov. 4 at Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, N.Y., 40 caregivers with home care agencies in Nassau and Suffolk will be recognized for their outstanding contributions to the home health care industry on the occasion of National Home Care Month.
