Baldwin neighbors, how does your garden grow?

Hopefully much improved after a dozen people attended and learned how to prepare a garden for a new growing season and the basics of backyard composting from Cornell Cooperative Extension of Nassau County at the Baldwin Community Garden, behind’s the community’s historical society on Grand Avenue on April 15.

Cornell Cooperative experts taught attendees how to do composting, a process that converts food leftovers, unwaxed paper goods, coffee grinds, and many more items into compost to enrich the garden soil with vital nutrients. 

“Many people are curious about composting but don’t know where to start,” County Legislator Debra Mulé stated in a news release, adding that was why she partnered with Cornell Cooperative to host the one-hour Saturday workshop.
