Editor's Note: People named in Crime Watch items as having been arrested and charged with violations or crimes are only suspected of committing those acts of which they are accused. They are all presumed to be innocent of those charges until and unless found guilty in a court of law.

Arrests

Two Hempstead men were arrested in Baldwin on Sept. 22 for alleged possession of a loaded gun and marijuana.

According to Nassau detectives, police officers observed Dawan Dawkins, 20, of Belmont Parkway and Marquis Miley, 19, of Searing Street sitting in a Chrysler parked behind 1255 Grand Avenue in Baldwin. Also seen was Michael Rothwell, 34, of 6th Street in West Babylon, sitting in a parked Acura. The officers observed what appeared to be an illegal drug sale and conducted an investigation, which revealed a loaded .38 caliber Colt revolver and a substance believed to be marijuana.

Dawkins and Miley are both charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon. They were arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Sept. 23. Dawkins was also charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. Rothwell was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana and was released on an appearance ticket.

Thefts

— On Sept. 24, a 2008 Yamaha motorcycle was reported stolen from in front of a restaurant at Grand Avenue and Garfield Road.
— On Sept. 24, a 2004 Hyundai parked on West Sunrise Highway was reported stolen.
