When it comes to the concept of family, Lakeview Mercedes-Benz embraces it three-fold. Perhaps the country's oldest family-owned Mercedes-Benz dealership, Lakeview is now manned by its third generation. Employees, many of whom have been at this dealership for decades, are thought of and treated as family. Customers are welcomed by a warm, inviting environment, guaranteed to see familiar faces, much like a visit to a friend or relative.

In 1932, Fred Meyer, the grandfather of David Meyer, who is now president of Lakeview Mercedes-Benz, opened a small service station/repair shop on Lakeview Avenue. From that station, he also sold used Studebaker automobiles, and was subsequently offered a Mercedes-Benz dealership through Studebaker distribution.

Now, 77 years later, the Lakeview Mercedes-Benz Service and Parts Facility still stands in that original location. Their beautiful showroom resides on Sunrise Highway. The dealership specializes exclusively in the sale and service of Mercedes-Benz automobiles and products, and does not sell any other makes or models.

Upon graduating from the University of Florida, David Meyer began his career in the auto business with his father, Edward Meyer, as the general manager of Lakeview Mercedes-Benz. He is proud of the fact that, thanks to the efforts of his dedicated staff, along with the support of the surrounding communities, the business has grown to be one of the largest and most respected auto dealers in the area.

"Without good personnel, I don't know any other way to consistently satisfy the customer," said Meyer. "A new Mercedes-Benz never disappoints, but how a customer is handled can. We hold customer satisfaction above any other issue. It's not what we say or what we do, but how we make our customers feel. We won't make a promise that we can't deliver."

Many dealerships, he points out, are part of large public companies, but this has never been the case with Lakeview. Thus, he is 100 percent accessible and accountable to his team and clientele.

Sales manager Timothy Shishko stated that even in these challenging economic times, not one employee has been let go. "We found other ways to cut costs, because we realize that the quality of our employees is our greatest asset. We deliver superior customer service, which means creating a positive, memorable experience for each customer, meeting expectations, and satisfying needs in such a way that we are viewed as easy to do business with."

On behalf of Lakeview Mercedes-Benz, David Meyer has shown his commitment to the Rockville Centre community repeatedly with generous support of many special local events. In 2002, he and Robert Jesberger, owner of Mid-Island Collision, agreed to show their dedication to the surrounding area by investing in and revitalizing the properties and facilities they own on Lakeview Avenue. Lakeview Mercedes-Benz and Mid-Island Collision are independent businesses with an outstanding working relationship.

Lakeview sells both new and well-cared-for pre-owned Mercedes-Benz vehicles that are certified and come with a warrantee. Among their endless amenities is roadside assistance, regardless of the age of the vehicle or miles accumulated, and a new car warranty that covers the vehicle for four years from the original purchase date.

Service advisors are always on hand to deal with any customer concerns and to make sure that all requested work is completed to satisfaction. Every member of the staff is fully trained by the Mercedes-Benz Standards of Excellence Program.
