Our Town
Hofstra University’s Gray Wig Theater celebrates the 75th anniversary of Thorton Wilder’s “Our Town,” with a staging of the treasured American drama. The Pulitzer Prize-winning drama presents a timeless commentary on the transience of human existence. The plot follows the residents of the small town of Grover’s Corners through three acts: “Daily Life,” “Love and Marriage” and “Death and Eternity.” Teenagers George and Emily meet, fall in love, marry – and suffer the slings and arrows of everyday life. Wilder transforms their ordinary story into a poignant and captivating exploration of mortality and the interconnectivity of human beings. Narrated by a stage manager and performed with minimal props and sets, audiences follow along as the two families experience life together.
