Pedestrian Struck at Baldwin train station

A Long Island Rail Road train struck a pedestrian on Thursday, Dec. 15, at 10:15 p.m., according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

The 9:41 p.m. train leaving Babylon was supposed to reach Penn Station by 10:56 p.m., but was delayed after a Baldwin resident, Luis Jimenez, was hit on the platform. The investigation is still under way into the circumstances of the incident, according to the MTA.

Jimenez died, according to the MTA's investigation. He was two days shy of his birthday. He would have been 39.

The Babylon branch was back on schedule by 1:15 a.m. on Friday morning after being temporarily suspended.
