School district to conduct budget survey

The Baldwin School District will conduct a telephone and Web-based survey in the next few days to gauge resident input as school officials formulate the 2013-14 budget.

According to the district, a preliminary call describing the survey will be made to parents and guardians on Thursday, Jan. 10. The telephone survey itself will take place on Monday, Jan. 14, at 6:30 p.m. Parents or guardians who miss the call, and residents who do not have children in district schools, can complete the survey on the district website (www3.baldwinschools.org) between Jan. 14 and 16.

The Board of Education will discuss the survey results and welcome additional suggestions from residents at the Community Input Meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at 8 p.m., at Baldwin Middle School. Given the potential of a large gap between the operating budget and available funds in upcoming school years, district officials say that community input will be invaluable in this year’s budget planning process.
