Bellmore's Stevens Home demolished
Herald file photo by Scott Brinton
The Stevens house, that stood on Bellmore Avenue, was built in 1923 by tugboat operator Stan Stevens and his father, Charles.

The shelters that benefited from the sale of the home were Animal Lifeline in Bellmore and Bobbi and the Strays, which Weiss said sustained extensive damage at its Freeport location in Hurricane Sandy.
