To “spice things up,” Bove added a new component to the competition that put some of the voting power in the audience’s hands. During the talent portion, the crowd could tweet which performer was the most entertaining. The individual with the most tweets was awarded an additional two points to his score. Burns won the Twitter points.

Wagner said the talent portion featured lots of variety. Acts ranged from a display of athletic skills to choreographed dances to video presentations to comedy routines and musical performances.

After collaborating with Hoffman to produce an original version of Miley Cyrus's “Wrecking Ball” in video form and performing “Say Something” by Christina Aguilera together in the talent portion, Durkin was named “Mr. Mepham” in the student contest. Morris, who sang his own rendition of “Rock and Roll all Night” by Kiss during the event, won the faculty contest.

This year, the judges also announced the third and second place student finishers: Hoffman and Burns, respectively.
