Alex’s Run for a Reason raises $25K for SUDC Program

Posted

Nearly 400 people came to Newbridge Road Park in Bellmore on Oct. 23 to take part in the fifth annual Alex’s Run for a Reason Family Run/Walk.

Danna and Brian Richardson of Merrick founded Alex’s Run for a Reason in October 2006 in memory of their daughter, Alexandra, who died suddenly in her sleep at 22 months old. The cause of death remains unknown to this day.

With Alex’s Run, the Richardsons raise money for the Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood Program, as well as honor Alex and keep her spirit alive. This year’s event raised more than $25,000, and in five years, the event has raised over $225,000 for SUDC, which is devoted solely to the needs of families affected by unexplained death in childhood.
