Gordon Cheung & Jonathan Seliger
An exhibition of two important contemporary artists. Gordon Cheung uses Financial Times stock listings in his multimedia paintings. His paintings are virtual-reality environments which comment on the ability of stock exchange numbers to deliver a “promised land” to people’s lives. Jonathan Seliger works with paint and canvas to produce three-dimensional structures. His works are included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Brooklyn Museum, among others. Through Jan. 3. Indian Art After Independence
This exhibit is the first American presentation of a group of modern and contemporary Indian masterpieces. The approximately 20 paintings and drawings explore India’s embrace of modernity and global culture and offer an interesting window into the passion of two individual collectors, Virginia and Ravi Akhoury and Shelley and Donald Rubin. Long Island Moderns: Artists on the North Shore from Edward Steichen to Cindy Sherman

A Long Island View

Norman Rockwell
An exhibit of Saturday Evening Post illustrator Norman Rockwell’s images that defined America and Americans, in this country and abroad. The exhibition includes Rockwell’s iconic Four Freedoms series of patriotic paintings symbolizing President Roosevelt’s wartime aims: Freedom of Speech, Freedom to Worship, Freedom from Want and Freedom from Fear.
