‘Beauty and the Beast’ stops at the library

Children and parents alike were recently treated to a live performance of “Beauty and the Beast” at the North Bellmore Library. Children’s librarian Jane Sullivan said the show, which was put on by Plaza Theatrical Productions from Lynbrook, was enjoyed by a crowd of nearly 100.

Belle was played by Kristine Renigen, Gaston by Matthew DeMaria, Beast by Givoanni Pinto and Lumier by Patrick Rosenberger. Sullivan said the theatre company has put on live productions at the library previously, and the crowd’s warm reception for the cast has never failed to disappoint.

The performance condensed the story into just over an hour, and the cast sang many memorable songs. Most of the songs were in tune with the Disney movie that so many of the children know and love.
