Bellmore Chamber lights up Hanukkah

Posted

The Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores marked the end of Hanukkah with a burst of light, as the organization hosted its annual celebration of the holiday on Dec. 4.

On the last night of the eight-day Jewish holiday, the chamber celebrated by lighting a 10-foot menorah. Religious leaders, elected officials and families from across the community came to Bellmore Village for the festivities.

Leaders of various Bellmore synagogues spoke at the ceremony, including Ira Minkoff, president of Temple Beth-El of North Bellmore, and Rabbi Dahlia Bernstein, spiritual leader of the Bellmore Jewish Center. The center’s cantor, Elliott Yavneh, and children from Hebrew and nursery schools also sang traditional Hanukkah songs. And the chamber provided Hanukkah gelt for children who attended.

The menorah is at the veterans memorial between Bedford Avenue and Broadway.
