Posted

The 61st annual Bellmore Memorial Day parade kicked off on Monday, beginning at the Newbridge Road Elementary School monument and heading south to Bellmore Village.

The event was sponsored by North Bellmore American Legion Post 1749, Bellmore American Legion Post 948 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2770. Hundreds of Bellmore residents, veterans and local residents joined in the parade to honor those who sacrificed their lives for the country.

The Bellmore and North Bellmore fire departments participated in the parade, and representatives of Bellmore elementary schools and Central High School District students took part in the march.

Bellmore community groups were heavily represented as well, as members of the Bellmore Kiwanis and Lions Clubs, the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores and the Knights of Columbus joined in the parade.
