Calhoun students strut their stuff for a cause

Calhoun High School may be full of model students, but on one recent evening, the school was full of student models.

On that Thursday, Calhoun turned its spotlights on a fashion show to benefit Invisible Children, a nonprofit organization that works to spread awareness about Ugandan militant Joseph Kony and his rebel group, the Lord’s Resistance Army.

The show raised more than $7,000. Part of the proceeds was also given to the nonprofit organization, Reason 2 Smile, which works to assist impoverished orphans and at-risk children living in developing countries.

A yearly staple at Calhoun, the fashion show is run by the school’s Senior Experience class. Students donned clothes that were donated by various stores across Nassau County and strutted their stuff down a runway.
