Chabad goes to the circus for Purim

Posted

In keeping with tradition, the Chabad Center for Jewish Life of Merrick-Bellmore recently hosted a Purim celebration, with a circus theme.

Purim commemorates the victory of the Jews over the Persian Empire in the 4th century B.C, and is celebrated by exchanging food packages among friends, giving charity to the poor, eating a traditional festive meal and reading the story of Purim from the Megillah, a Purim scroll.

The event, held at the Fireman’s Exempt Club in North Bellmore, featured children and adults dressing in colorful costumes, many of whom went as clowns to follow the circus theme.
