Chabad goes wild at Purim celebration

Posted

On March 20, Chabad of Merrick-Bellmore held a Purim feast with an African jungle theme at the Merrick Golf Course Clubhouse.

Purim celebrates the victory of the Jews over the Persian Empire in the 4th century B.C. The day of deliverance, celebrated annually during the 14th day of the Hebrew month of Adar, has become a day of feasting and rejoicing.

All participants were greeted by a huge giraffe and a sign welcoming them to Chabad’s “Purim jungle.” Children and adults enjoyed “safari rides” on replica jungle animals. And there was African hair braiding and jungle face painting.
