Chamber hosts a happy Halloween event

Posted

From Captain America to Merida to witches and princesses, a cast of characters marched on Bedford Avenue on Saturday. That’s when a crowd of costume-clad kids –– and their parents –– came to downtown Bellmore for the annual Halloween parade.

The Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores hosted the procession and a trick-or-treating event on Oct. 24. Parade participants assembled in front of the Bellmore Fire Department headquarters on Pettit Avenue at 11:45 a.m., snapping group photographs before the event began. The festivities officially kicked off at noon, when chamber leaders led marchers north on Bedford into the business district.

Halloween music played from streetlight speakers in front of storefronts, many of which had “Mr. Pumpkin” signs in their windows. Those merchants offered candy to the trick-or-treaters.
