College Board honors Calhoun senior

Posted

Sara Karol, a Calhoun High School senior, was recently selected as a scholar in the 2010-11 National Hispanic Recognition Scholars Program. The National Hispanic Recognition Program, established in 1983, is a College Board program that provides national recognition of the exceptional academic achievements of Hispanic high school seniors and identifies them for postsecondary institutions.

The honor, awarded to 5,000 students nationwide, was based on Karol’s outstanding academic achievement, as well as her score on the 2009 PSAT/NMSQT.

At Calhoun, Karol is a member of four honor societies and is an outstanding percussionist in the band and wind ensemble. She has earned a spot in the Top 10 finalists in Distributive Education Clubs of America competitions for the past two years. And she is a member of and stage manager for the school’s On Tour Company drama program.
