Consolidate everything into the county

Posted

To the Editor:

As I look to our county's future, I believe that we are about to enter a time like no other in recent Nassau history. Our county executive, Edward Mangano, has started the ball rolling with a reorganization of our county police. Hopefully the promise of no change in police street presence will remain.

Now the time has come to reorganize the village and town governments. A start would be to streamline all village and town governments into the current organizational structure of Nassau County. This would eliminate all patronage and redundant positions and allow us to use local volunteers to pick up any slack. I believe the current administration in Nassau County is a fine-running government capable of merging these villages and towns.
