Who needs a guitar when you have a shofar? Mama Doni & The Mama Doni Band bring their special brand of “funky music with a Jewish twist” to Oceanside in a show the entire family will enjoy. With Doni Zasloff Thomas – a.k.a. Mama Doni – leading the way, the band celebrates Jewish culture with irrepressible zest at its high-energy, interactive family rock concert filled with catchy pop songs that break the mold of traditional Jewish music. Quirky, offbeat, and unpredictable, The Mama Doni Band offers up a contagious and unexpected blend of reggae, rock, disco, Latin, klezmer and “Jewgrass” – all woven together with a hip Jewish sensibility and a zany sense of humor.

Star Gazing
The mysteries of the spring sky unfold at Jones Beach on Earth Day. Visit the park’s Theodore Roosevelt Nature Center for a look towards the heavens. All ages are invited to observe the stars and spring constellations, using telescopes. The night sky will can be viewed in a myriad of glittering patterns as everyone discover the wonders of the constellations.

Art Adventures

NCMA’s Family Day
Bring the family to Nassau County Museum of Art for a special day at the museum. Take the kids on a docent-led walk-through of the current exhibition, “Milton Avery & The End Of Modernism” along with the whimsical children’s exhibit, “Let’s Have A Bite! A Banquet of Beastly Rhymes.” Supervised art activities are offered, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Also, spend some time in NCMA’s sculpture park, which features over 50 works, many of them monumental in size. For more outdoor fun, take a stroll along some of the many trails through the museum’s 145 acres.
