Joey Foundation to host fair, dinner

Posted

The Joey Foundation, a Levittown-based non-profit organization devoted to improving the lives of children, will host a pair of fundraisers on Saturday, July 18. Both will be held at Levittown Hall, 201 Levittown Parkway in Hicksville.

A family fun day and vendor show will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be character appearances, face painting, shopping, Build-a-Bear, a photo booth and more. Admission is free. The foundation is seeking $20 donations for its Duffle Bags for Foster Kids program. Members of the Seaford Kiwanis Club will be volunteering their time at the fair.

A dinner follows at 6 p.m. The theme is “Kentucky Derby… Joey Style.” There will be a derby hat contest, Chinese auction and sports memorabilia auction. The cost is $25 in advance or $30 at the door, which includes dinner, beer, wine and soda. PayPal is being accepted to purchase tickets or to make a donation.

The Joey Foundation is named in honor of Joey Torcivia, who died on May 25, 2000, at 6 years old. He was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia at 4 months old, and was not expected to live past 1.

The foundation has helped more than 200 children celebrate the holidays, and has donated a full playroom to Cohen’s Children’s Hospital. It has provided a swing set to a young girl with cancer.

For more information or for tickets to the dinner, call Ann Torcivia at (516) 822-5966 or email thejoeyfoundation15@gmail.com.
