Posted

Kennedy High School senior Brian O’Gorman of Merrick recently signed a letter of intent to play Division I volleyball for California State University Northridge on a scholarship in the fall. Last November O’Gorman, a 6-foot-10 center, led Kennedy’s varsity volleyball team to its third consecutive Nassau County Championship. O’Gorman was an All-County selection in both volleyball and basketball. In addition, he is playing in his second year for the Long Island Volleyball Club. His team took gold at the Nittany Ninvitational at Penn State in February, earning the squad a bid to Junior Nationals in Minneapolis in July. O’Gorman, Kennedy’s first volleyball player to be recruited by a Division I school, will major in mechanical and automotive engineering at Cal State. At left, O'Gorman, center, was joined by family members and Kennedy faculty when he signed his letter of intent at Kennedy.
