Mepham pitches in at suicide-prevention walk

Posted

Mepham High School’s Key Club and kickline team recently joined in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s “Out of the Darkness Walk” at Old Westbury Gardens.

The walk, on Nov. 2, drew 3,400 participants and raised $303,000, according to the AFSP, a nonprofit organization committed to “understanding and preventing suicide through research, education and advocacy,” according to its website. The AFSP routinely holds “Out of the Darkness” walks in communities around the country.

Key Club adviser Theana Cheliotes and Mepham senior Arielle Weinstein led Mepham’s effort.
