Mepham senior earns prestigious language honors

Mepham High School senior Michelle Dimino is the recent recipient of two prestigious Long Island language awards. The first, the Lucille Di Pietro Lambert Student Award for Excellence, sponsored by the Long Island Language Teachers, is granted to a high-school senior with exceptional accomplishments and interest in foreign-language study. The second, the Giovanna Morabito Scholarship for Excellence in Italian Studies, was awarded to Dimino for her achievements in her Italian studies. And Dimino earned first place in the 26th annual Italian poetry recitation contest sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Italian in March. Dimino, Mepham’s valedictorian for 2010, studies Italian, French and Spanish, and intends to continue her language studies next year at Harvard University.
