Merrick Chamber of Commerce to host Fall Festival this weekend

Posted

Get ready, folks! The Merrick Fall Festival, sponsored annually by the Merrick Chamber of Commerce, is on its way this weekend, September 8 and 9, on Merrick Avenue, north of the Long Island Rail Road station on Sunrise Highway.

At the fair, which attracts 10,000 to 20,000 attendees, you can find just about anything to please even the most ardent of festival lovers, from cotton candy to amusement park rides and live music. There will even be a petting zoo.

Each year, the Kiwanis Club of Merrick sets up its tent in the middle of the fair to raise money for local causes, and the Merrick and North Merrick fire departments show off their skills in firefighting demonstrations. The Bellmore-Merrick Emergency Medical Services unit and representatives of the armed forces are on hand as well. Students from the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District volunteer to help run booths for children. And, of course, the fair offers Merrick businesses the opportunity to market their wares and services.

Among the businesses that will be on hand will be the Merrick Herald, which will have its booth set up amid the crowds. Hope to see you there!

The fair runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, with rides continuing into the evening. Amusement park rides will be available on Friday evening starting at 6 p.m.
