The Merrick Symphony Chamber Orchestra, headed by longtime Merokeans Rita and Richard Gilley, will present Great Moments in Music at the Freeport Public Library on Sunday, Oct. 24, at 2:30 p.m. The free program will feature concertmaster Byung-Kook Kwak and his daughter Christine, pictured at left, who will perform the “Double Violin Concerto in d minor” by Bach. On the same program will be works by Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Grieg and more.

At age 10, Christine recorded Paganini's 24 "Caprices," and by 11 she had debuted at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall and Avery Fisher Hall. She graduated from Columbia University in 2007 with a degree in philosophy and from the Juilliard School in 2009 with a master's in music.
