Toting backpacks and school supplies, Bellmore students disembarked from the iconic yellow school buses and carpools eager and excited to start the
2016-2017 school year. Students enrolled in the district’s three elementary schools received a warm welcome from Board of Education trustees, administrators and faculty as they walked single-file to their classrooms. The students were not only ready to establish new routines, but also were happy to become reacquainted with former classmates and to make new friends.
At the Charles A. Reinhard Early Childhood Center, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Joseph Famularo and Board of Education trustees Jay L.T. Breakstone, Janet Goller and Maryanne Kelly welcomed the district’s youngest students at the bus circle. Famularo noted that he was not only impressed with the district’s smooth opening, but also with the way in which students and teachers were well prepared to begin instruction. He also said that the district would continue to emphasize the education of the whole child through the Bellmore Stars program and promote the core values of dedication, respect, integrity, teamwork and trust.
“I look forward to continuing to build upon our unique ‘Community of Learners’ and providing opportunities for our students to become productive and global citizens,” Famularo said.
