Once again this winter, snow has blanketed Bellmore-Merrick, making driving conditions hazardous for commuters.
Roads were passable during the morning commute, but snow-covered and slushy. The afternoon commute was expected to be more treacherous, as snow was predicted to pile up throughout the day. Forecasters expected five to eight inches of heavy, “wet” snow by day’s end.
All five Bellmore-Merrick school districts cancelled school ahead of the storm. The districts include:
•Bellmore Elementary District.
•Merrick Elementary District.
In addition, the Bellmore-Merrick Childcare Program is closed today.
