A Queens woman has been arrested and charged with grand larceny and falsifying business records after she stole more than $12,000 from two group homes for the developmentally disabled, one in Lynbrook and another in East Rockaway, where she worked as the resident manager, Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice announced on June 21.

Update: 10:00 a.m. Four Brooklyn men brandishing knives and possibly a handgun invaded a North Bellmore home on Bellmore Avenue on Monday morning, around 9 a.m., and Nassau County police officers pursued the men into Merrick and later the Wantagh-Seaford area, firing shots at and wounding one of the suspects, authorities said.

I write this assuming it will be true for a lot of my readers: September 11, 2001, was the worst day of my life. It was worse for many than it was for me — I was lucky not to lose my father, a roommate and several close friends who all worked in the towers — but the anger and anguish I felt that day were the most intense I’ve ever known.

Q. I’m hoping you can help me understand a mystery. The interior of my home was repainted in 2008 with quality latex paint. Before work began, I shared with the painter the story of peeling woodwork in my mom’s home. The painter assured me that peeling would not be a problem; he would sand and prime first. Three years later, the woodwork is now tacky to the touch. Recently, while wiping away fingerprints on an interior door, I wiped away paint as well. What went wrong, and what’s the remedy?

Q. I have a waterfront property and my neighbor is building something behind my home on the water, blocking my view and access to the water. He claims he bought the underwater property and has been measuring to do something. Can someone sell public property without notifying anyone adjacent to it, especially where it should have been offered to us. since it was public land?
