East Rockaway hosts Huckleberry Frolic fair

The Village of East Rockaway hosted the 46th annual Huckleberry Frolic last Saturday in Memorial Park on Atlantic Avenue. The proceeds from the popular event go to the Haviland-Davison Grist Mill Historical Museum, set on the grounds of the park.

Starting with a parade into the park at 10 a.m., including The Western Long Island Detachment Marine Corp League and Glor Na nGael Pipe & Drums. Heidi Kreit chairs the Frolic parade. Harry Conklin was the Master of Ceremonies and Town Councilman Anthony Santino and Mayor Bruno Romano greet the attendees and introduced the special guests. Pastors Mark Lukens and Stephen Hurkens gave the benediction.

The day featured rides for the children, and vendors offered handcrafted items, artwork, collectibles, clothes and pickles! Metro Sound provided the music for the day. The First Nassau Masonic District sponsored a free Children’s Video ID program. A baby parade was held at noon, and raffle winners were called later in the day.
