The Lynbrook Fire Department and the Lynbrook Baptist Church have announced that they will square off in a basketball game to benefit Nassau County Firefighters Operation Wounded Warrior and the Lynbrook High School’s Moms and Dads Club.

Each year the Lynbrook Baptist Church has sponsored a sporting event for the Lynbrook Fire Department for a worthy cause — twice for the Coalition Against Domestic Violence, and twice for Nassau County Firefighters Operation Wounded Warriors, an organization that helps injured servicemen and women.

“We feel our church is an important part of the Lynbrook community and we want to contribute in a tangible way,” said church pastor Bob Walderman.

This year’s fundraiser will be held in the Lynbrook High School Gymnasium on December 3. Admission is a $10 donation. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. Raffle prizes will include a LG Smart 55” curved TV, a Microsoft Surface Pro, and an Apple watch.

“We appreciate the continued help that the Lynbrook Baptist Church gives to the firefighter’s efforts to help our wounded warriors through Nassau County Firefighters Operation Wounded Warrior,” said Ex-Captain Steve Grogan, an NCFF-OWW vice-chairman, and a member of LFD’s wounded warrior committee.

“NCFF-OWW helps to improve the lives of our wounded service members who have sacrificed so much to protect our country’s freedoms, while the Moms and Dads Club provides financial assistance and support to the school athletes,” said Ex-Chief Kevin Bien, Chairman of LFD’s wounded warrior committee.

“It is our way of helping and encouraging our community, our schools, while also helping our wounded soldiers who have sacrificed so much for all of us,” said the pastor.

“On behalf of our Lynbrook Fire Department membership, I wish to thank Pastor Walderman and his congregation for their continued support of this fire department and our aim to help our soldiers,” said Lynbrook Fire Chief John Chavatte.
