Crime watch: Lynbrook, East Rockaway

Arrests

On Jan. 20 at 12:17 a.m., a 23-year-old Brooklyn resident was arrested and charged with grand larceny after he was found operating a 2020 Honda Accord that was reported stolen from NYC Motorcars, 875 Sunrise Highway, in November.

At 9:44 a.m., a 33-year-old College Point, Queens resident was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle using a hand-held phone, aggravated unlicensed operation, unregistered motor vehicle and various other vehicle and traffic law violations on Sunrise Highway.

A 43-year-old Valley Stream resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated with a previous conviction, aggravated unlicensed operation and various other vehicle and traffic law violations on Nieman Place on Jan. 22 at 1:39 a.m.

Robbery

On Jan. 22, an employee at the Gulf gas station at 710 Merrick Road reported that at 10 p.m., an unknown male, black man entered the store, displayed a handgun and demanded money.  He then removed about $1,100 from the cash register and struck the victim on the top of the head with the handgun, causing an injury. He then exited the store and headed southbound on foot on Horton Avenue. He was wearing a black hooded jacket, brown boots, pink gloves and a black face covering. Lynbrook detectives are investigating the incident.
