Crime watch: Lynbrook, East Rockaway

Arrests

On Jan. 24 at 8:15 p.m., a 60-year-old Elmont resident was arrested and charged with criminal possession of stolen property stemming from an incident on Reyam Road in May 2021.

At 12:33 a.m. on Jan. 25, a 28-year-old resident of Richmond Hill, Queens was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), aggravated unlicensed operation and various other vehicle and traffic law violations on Ocean Avenue.

A 26-year-old Rosedale, Queens resident was arrested on Jan. 25 at 4:38 p.m., and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, unregistered vehicle and various other vehicle and traffic law violations on Sunrise Highway. 

On Jan. 26 at 1:19 p.m., a 54-year-old Ozone Park, Queens resident was arrested and charged with possession of a fored instrument, aggravated unlicensed operation and various other vehicle and traffic law violations on Sunrise Highway.

At 9:09 p.m. on Jan. 26, a 43-year-old Oceanside resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, moving from a lane unsafely and various other vehicle and traffic law violations on Sunrise Highway.

Grand larceny

An account manager at DB Group, on 300 Merrick Road, reported on Jan. 26 at 12:23 p.m. that between Jan. 24 and 26, an unknown person cashed four unauthorized checks from the business. The total loss was $11,720, and Lynbrook detectives are investigating the incidents.

On Jan. 26 at 6:10 p.m., a resident on Wood Street notified police that an unknown person used his debit card to make several unauthorized purchases. The total loss was $720.

At 12:10 p.m. on Jan. 27, a Horton Avenue resident reported that someone claiming to be a member of the Indianapolis Police Department contacted him by telephone throughout December and January, threatening to arrest him unless he electronically sent money via Cash App and Money Gram. The resident sent the individual thousands of dollars before realizing the calls were fraudulent. Lynbrook detectives are investigating the incident.
