A “Too Good for Drugs” community forum and

“Operation Medicine Cabinet Clean-Out” program will be held at East Rockaway High School on June 16. This special event is being hosted by Nassau County legislators Howard J. Kopel and Francis X. Becker, Jr. and Hempstead Senior Councilman Anthony Santino, along with Nassau County Police Commissioner Lawrence W. Mulvey.

It is jointly sponsored by the newly-formed Coalition for Youth in East Rockaway and the East Rockaway High School PTA, with the support of the East Rockaway Union Free School District and the Incorporated Village of East Rockaway.

This community forum will focus on the current heroin epidemic in Nassau County and the county’s proactive three-pronged approach — Enforcement, Parental Awareness and Education — to combating this critical issue.

A “Pharmaceuticals Drop” or “Operation Medicine Cabinet Clean-Out” as it is often called, will also be held concurrently with the forum. Residents over the age of 18 are urged to go through their home medicine cabinets and bring their unwanted, unused, expired and/or illicit drugs to the meeting where they will be able to anonymously hand over their medications for safe disposal.
