“A Tasteful Evening” — an annual October fundraiser hosted by the Peninsula Counseling Center on October 24 — will welcome celebrity Chef Michael Psilakis to this year’s event.
Psilakis, who has acquired many of the food world’s highest honors and is recognized as the popular 2010 Iron Chef, will mix and mingle with the guests and speak about his personal journey to a healthy life. As the eldest first generation son of a traditional Long Island Greek family, Psilakis has been lauded for his classic and reinterpreted Greek menus and the modern flare in cooking Greek cuisine.
A Tasteful Evening is a charity event that spotlights over 40 premier local Long Island restaurants that support the center’s programs for people of all ages. Signature dishes and delightful desserts from restaurants, bakeries, vineyards and chocolatiers will be available for everyone to sample and enjoy.

“The Peninsula Counseling Center has helped thousands of people within the community for nearly one hundred years,” said Psilakis. “It is great to know that so many local restaurants, shops and businesses are supporting the center’s work by participating in this annual event. I am looking forward to meeting guests and tasting the signature dishes and desserts and sampling the wines.”
“We are also very fortunate to have received several raffle prize donations, each valued at $1,000,” said Event Chairperson Stephanie Rosenblum. “The support of the community has been overwhelming.”
The event will include complimentary wine tasting by James Cari of Peninsula Wines and Liquors and decorative flower arrangements by Dalsimer Florist and Stefan’s Flowers. And, in collaboration with the Hewlett-Woodmere Schools Project Bulldog, a one-of-a-kind inspirational Bulldog will be auctioned.
“Particularly during these difficult times, the community’s support makes a tremendous difference in our ability to serve,” said John Kastan, PhD, executive director of PCC.
