FDNY, NYPD battle it out in lacrosse at Greis Park in Lynbrook

Posted

FDNY firefighters and NYPD officers went head-to-head in a lacrosse game at Greis Park’s new turf field on Aug. 21 to benefit the Brian Moore Fund, which was created in the memory of a police officer who was killed in the line of duty in 2015. In all, $7,500 was raised.

The game saw the NYPD come from behind to tie it, 8-8, in the closing seconds of the game, but the firefighters quickly rallied in sudden death to score the winning goal and take the contest, 9-8.

Notable attendees at the event included Lynbrook Mayor Alan Beach, a retired FDNY firefighter, Deputy Mayor Michael Hawxhurst and Lynbrook Fire Chief John Donald, as well as Hempstead Town Supervisor Don Clavin, and Town Councilman Anthony D’Esposito, a former NYPD detective.
