How will these students balance high school AND college at the same time?

Seven East Rockaway High School students will complete their senior year at Nassau Community College as part of the concurrent enrollment program. This unique program allows students to fulfill their high school graduation requirements and earn college credit at the same time.

Students accepted to the concurrent enrollment program for the 2023-24 school year are: Aidan Adams, Tumi Adeyemi, Francesco Maio, Courtney Gaffney, Abby Small, Zara Soofizada, and Emma Van Wickler.

Beginning this fall, each student will attend all required and elective classes at NCC, learning alongside college students in course taught by college professors. To ensure a fully immersive college experience, NCC faculty will not be made aware of their status unless the student wishes to share the information with them. If students require transportation to NCC it will be provided by the school district free of charge.

Students enrolled in the program will get the opportunity to participate in all East Rockaway High School and Nassau Community College clubs and extracurricular activities, except for intercollegiate athletics. At the end of their senior year, they will join their fellow high school graduates at the East Rockaway graduation ceremony.

All the credits earned during the concurrent enrollment program can be used to continue at NCC or transferred to any SUNY school.
