Rent
Jonathon Larson’s Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning musical is back, this time at Hoftra University. The production, performed by Hofstra University’s Department of Drama and Dance, features a vibrant and talented cast of Hofstra student actors, including East Rockaway’s Michael Quadrino. Rent, a smash hit off- and on-Broadway in the 1990s, is a musical celebration of “La Vie Boheme,” loosely based on Puccini’s opera and set on East Village streets, fire escapes, tenements, and cafes. This groundbreaking roller coaster ride depicting the joys and sorrows of an eclectic, diverse troupe of young artists and activists continues to captivate audiences.
Friday and Saturday, Oct. 21-22, 8 p.m.; Sunday, Oct. 23, 2 p.m. $15, $12 seniors and students. Hofstra University’s John Cranford Adams Playhouse, South Campus, Hempstead. (516) 463-6644.
