Baseball league supports Ciotti

To the Editor:

Thank you to the Valley Stream Baseball League parents, players, coaches and board members for a remarkably successful 2009 baseball season. The number of registrants we already have for 2010 is a strong indication that our league is growing, which, for the most part, is a result of your hard work and dedication to making this all possible for the young baseball players of Valley Stream.

Additionally, we continue to receive a great deal of support from our local representatives. One man in particular, who has consistently made the effort to recognize us and show his support for our kids by taking the time to participate in all of our special events is John Ciotti.

John is our Nassau County legislator and he is someone who is actually there when we do all of the wonderful things for our kids. He is our representative when he goes back to county meetings and votes on the issues that are important to us. John sees what we do by taking the time to be there with us. He speaks to us all, and more importantly, he listens. Through the years, he has offered to do whatever he can to help us succeed as an organization serving the youth of our community, understanding how important it is for our kids and for their future.

Just this past season, John generously gave his support to VSBL as he took part in our opening day ceremonies at Firemen’s Field. He continued to show his support all season long, often checking back with us to see how things were going.

At season’s end in September, he took the time from his busy schedule to be with us for our Champions Dinner at the VFW. John Ciotti was there to congratulate and help present the trophies to the champions of our three upper divisions — the Angels and both Mets teams. He made the night even more special when he presented specially inscribed citation awards to our players of the year — Liam O’Dougherty, Jake Byrnes and Jeffrey Lantigua.

I cannot thank John enough for his support over the years. There is something that we all can do to show our appreciation for all that he has done for our league, and for our kids. Tuesday is Election Day. I’m asking all of you, no matter what your affiliation may be, to please go out and vote — and when you get to the line for Nassau County legislator, push the lever for John Ciotti, a man who has done so much for us. He has proven, time and time again that he is worthy of our support.
