Cabaret Festival
The sounds of the Great American Songbook can be heard at Long Beach Public Library this weekend, the venue for the 10th annual Cabaret Festival in the City by the Sea. The festival, presented by Artists in Partnership and the Long Beach Public Library, celebrates the time-honored legacy of cabaret, with performances by renowned local and New York City-based vocalists. Cabaret star Marilyn Maye headlines the event, with a concert on Saturday, May 19, at 7 p.m. The acclaimed Billy Stritch will accompany her on piano.

Bug Bonanza
Visit Long Island Children’s Museum for its “Bug Bonanza.” Discover the amazing lives and natural history of insects, spiders and other creepy crawly creatures. Learn about these fascinating insects that help make up three-quarters of all animals on Earth, including the ‘Good Bug/Bad Bug’ interactive show with entomologist Bernard F. Wendell Jr., of Arrow Exterminating. Explore the fascinating world of various insects including subterranean termites, carpenter ants, and black widow spiders. Also create insect crafts, participate in activity challenges and even enjoy a tasty treat made with edible insects.

Early Bird Walk
Observe the feathered friends who share our world during a morning stroll with an experienced naturalist at Muttontown Preserve The focus is on the spring migration of birds in the woods and meadows, with an expert on hand to demonstrate bird banding and discuss bird migration patterns. See birds close up as they are released back to nature.
