Carey’s June seniors of the month

Thomas Mayer and Mikayla Morfesi were named H. Frank Carey High School’s seniors of the Month for June.

Thomas is an incredible role model at Carey. He is exceptionally smart, very kind and truly leads by example. He excels in all academic areas and has been inducted into the National, Math, Science and World Language honor societies. An AP Scholar with Honor, Thomas is also a member of Mathletes, the Ping Pong Club and the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council. He is extremely talented on the athletic field as well, playing varsity football, varsity lacrosse and club lacrosse. He works part-time jobs and gives back to the community by teaching lacrosse to younger players and tutoring underclassmen. Thomas will be attending Binghamton University in the fall.

Mikayla is a young lady who faculty members describe as the ideal student that exhibits a combination of intelligence, perseverance and an eager desire to learn. She has a genuine inquisitiveness and is a true team player. Presently, she is captain of the softball team, corresponding secretary for student government and student representative for both Class Board and the PTSA. Complementing her many roles of leadership, this senior of the Month is also a proud member of winter track, Model United Nations and Leadership Gym. Her years of dedication at Carey have led to her induction into the Business, Foreign Language and National honor societies. Outside of Carey, she has volunteered extensively for many causes and holds a part-time job, in addition to tutoring younger students in need. Mikayla will continue her studies at SUNY Oneonta this fall.
