Deliverymen robbed of money and food

Three robberies of Chinese food deliverymen beginning late last month — in Lakeview, Elmont and Baldwin — appeared to fit a pattern, according to police.

On June 24, a 27-year-old deliveryman was making a delivery on Clinton Avenue in Lake-view when he was robbed by three men, police said. He was getting out of his car when he encountered the first man, and two others approached him from behind. According to police, the men “threatened the victim with the use of a weapon,” then went through his pockets, removing cash, his wallet and a cell phone. The three assailants took the food as well, and fled.

The second robbery occurred in Elmont six days later. This time, police said, a Chinese food deliveryman was dropping off an order when a man on a bicycle approached him, brandishing a knife. The assailant, described as a 6-foot-tall black man in his mid-20s, wearing dark clothing, took money and a cell phone from the deliveryman’s pockets and fled.

The third incident took place on July 4 at around 8 p.m., when, according to Nassau County Police Department detectives, a “30-year-old male was delivering Chinese food for Mimi’s Kitchen in Baldwin.” The food was being dropped off on Lenox Road, police said, when the deliveryman was approached by three men. One of them pointed a black handgun at the victim while another demanded the food he was carrying and his money. The deliveryman handed over approximately $80 and the food, and the three men fled south on Short Place.

Police ask that anyone with information on any of the incidents call Crime Stoppers at (800) 244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
